Salam Meets Guterres at Arab Summit, Urges End to Israeli Attacks on Lebanon
Discussions touched on the latest developments
On the sidelines of the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Saturday.
Discussions touched on the latest developments in Lebanon and the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory.
Salam stressed "Lebanon's categorical rejection of these attacks" and the "need for their immediate cessation," asserting that "the continued Israeli occupation of parts of Lebanese territory constitutes a flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions, foremost of which is Resolution 1701."
Salam also reiterated Lebanon's emphasis on the importance of the role played by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and the Lebanese government's commitment to full cooperation with the peacekeeping forces to maintain security and stability along the Blue Line.
