Security Measures for Sunday’s Local Elections
The Lebanese Army Command has announced the continuation of its security monitoring and raid operations aimed at arresting individuals involved in gunfire incidents during the ongoing municipal and mukhtar elections. As of today, 86 individuals have been apprehended, with military-grade weapons and ammunition seized from their possession.
In an official statement, the Army emphasized its unwavering commitment to pursuing all violators across Lebanese territory, warning citizens that any act of gunfire or endangerment of lives will result in legal action.
In preparation for the third phase of elections, scheduled for Sunday in the governorates of Beirut, Bekaa, and Baalbek-Hermel, military units have begun enforcing heightened security measures. These include the deployment of temporary checkpoints and routine patrols, conducted in coordination with other security agencies, to ensure a safe and stable electoral process.
