Civil Defense on full alert for Sunday’s municipal elections
In Beirut, Bekaa, and Baalbek-Hermel
The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced on Friday a full state of alert and operational readiness from Saturday, May 17, at 8:00 AM until Monday, May 19, at 8:00 AM, in anticipation of the third phase of Lebanon’s municipal elections.
Acting Director General Brigadier General Nabil Farah has ordered all operational units to be fully mobilized, with teams deployed across Beirut, Beqaa and Baalbeck-Hermel governorates ahead of Sunday’s vote.
According to the statement, the deployment plan includes strategic positioning of personnel and vehicles starting at 5:00 AM on election day. Civil Defense teams will be stationed at key intersections and around polling stations across the three governorates in line with a detailed pre-established deployment strategy.
Additionally, the joint field follow-up room has been reactivated to oversee coordination between regional units and relevant agencies. The operations center will ensure round-the-clock monitoring and rapid response capability throughout the electoral process.
Reaffirming its “absolute commitment” to supporting the electoral process, the Civil Defense urged citizens to cooperate and to report any emergencies by calling the emergency hotline at 125 or via WhatsApp at 70192693.
