Economy and Trade Minister Amer Bisat held a press conference touching on the ministry’s strategic agenda and key developments.
He emphasized the ministry’s central role in Lebanon’s broader economic reform efforts, including banking sector restructuring, ongoing IMF negotiations, and medium-term macroeconomic planning, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and Banque du Liban.
Bisat outlined a forthcoming strategic roadmap aimed at achieving sustainable growth, noting it is based on scientific analysis of Lebanon’s current economic landscape. He also announced the launch of a major investment conference this fall under the theme "Lebanon is Back in Business."
On consumer protection, Bisat called for urgent and structural responses to inflation, highlighting efforts to enforce the Competition Law through the formation of a dedicated commission. He also stressed support for the private sector through a streamlined "One Stop Shop," trade facilitation, public-private partnerships, and SME financing.
Regarding insurance reform, he confirmed work is underway to appoint a National Insurance Council and implement a comprehensive sector strategy. He also addressed environmental risks at the damaged Beirut port silos and plans for a memorial and food security infrastructure.
Bisat concluded by reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to digital transformation and restoring public and investor confidence.
