In the light of the absence of a settlement on the horizon regarding the presidential solution, despite the foreign and local initiatives, throwing charges of obstruction is not new in the political arena, and in this context, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nabih Berri considered that "the Presidential problem is with the Maronites and among them", while Prime Minister Najib Mikati also blamed the Christians, when he said in a press interview on September 20 last: "Christian political forces bear the responsibility for the delay in the implementation of the reforms required by the international community and the International Monetary Fund".

Has the crisis taken a sectarian aspect?

A well-informed ministerial source believes, via the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that the approach is not sectarian, although presidents Berri and Mikati blamed the Christians, specifically the Maronites. He also considers that the accusation of obstruction cannot be reduced to a team, as well as the imposition of entitlement or otherwise on any of the parties in systems such as the political system in Lebanon, which is defined as a consensual or charter system, given the presence of 18 sects living under one sky. He adds: this internal data is divided in a system that has somewhere proved its inability to solve crises. On the other hand, the outside, when it intervenes, will increase the division and will not work on the unification.

Thus, the source continues: the accusation is not accepted, because the responsibility cannot be limited to one political team, everyone in Lebanon who holds the initiative on the presidential entitlement bears responsibility.
