The Union of Importers and Exporters of vegetables and fruits in Lebanon confirmed, in a statement, that many errors occurred in the transmission of news about the Lebanese strawberries and some seasonal insects. It regretted that the news is being reported in an erroneous, exaggerated or incorrect way through the media and social media.

It said: "the report issued by LARI on the Stawberries issue does not cover all the stawberries in Lebanon, but those that are sold on the roadsides. As for the Lebanese-produced strawberries, they meet the specifications".

It pointed out that talking about locusts is currently unlikely to reach Lebanon, because the cold north-westerly winds are opposite to the southern winds that bring locusts. 

There is also talk about the Beetle that indicates the occurrence of earthquakes. The union stressed that this is completely untrue".

It continued: "As for the Sunn bug, the Ministry of Agriculture fulfills all its tasks in this regard. Therefore, we should not believe any news received through the media because it has become offensive to the citizen".
