Parliament Committee Approves Military Grants and Green Agriculture Loans

The joint parliamentary committees convened on Monday in the main hall of Parliament, chaired by Deputy Speaker Elias Bou Saab, with the participation of the Minister of Finance Yassin Jaber, Information Dr. Paul Morcos, Defense Michel Menassa, Agriculture Nizar Hani, Displaced and Artificial Intelligence Dr. Kamal Shehadeh.
The session was also attended by the Head of the Civil Service Council, Nisreen Machmouchi, the Chairman of the Council for Development and Reconstruction, Mohammad Qabbani, and the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Hassan Falha, along with a number of lawmakers.
Following the session, the parliamentary committees issued a statement announcing the approval of a draft law aimed at concluding a loan agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development to finance the "Green Transformation in the Agri-Food Sector for Economic Recovery" project.
The committees also approved a draft law aiming to open an additional appropriation in the 2025 budget, allocating monthly financial grants for active service military personnel in the amount of LBP 14 million, and for retired military personnel in the amount of 12 LBP 12 million. The decision will take effect as of July 1.
The committees also approved the draft law to empower municipalities.
