King Abdullah II welcomes Aoun in Jordan

Necessity to unify Arab efforts

President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday arrived at Marka Military Airport in Jordan, where he was warmly received by King Abdullah II amid full official honors, including a 21-gun salute. 

Following the formal reception, President Aoun expressed his deep appreciation for the historic ties and strong brotherly relations between Lebanon and Jordan.

In his statement upon arrival, President Aoun emphasized the critical timing of his visit, noting the escalating challenges facing the region. He underscored the urgent need to unify Arab efforts to confront shared crises, particularly terrorism and extremism, to safeguard security and stability across their countries. 

“This visit reaffirms the enduring fraternal bonds and mutual respect that unite our two nations,” Aoun said.

The President also highlighted key agenda items for discussion with King Abdullah II, including enhancing bilateral cooperation across all sectors, with particular focus on supporting Lebanon’s national institutions, especially the Lebanese Army. He drew attention to the pressing issue of Syrian refugees, describing it as a significant burden on both countries that requires a just solution ensuring safe and dignified repatriation.

Furthermore, President Aoun stressed the importance of boosting economic and trade cooperation and exchanging expertise to promote sustainable development. He expressed gratitude for Jordan’s steadfast support of Lebanon in various international forums and thanked King Abdullah II for the warm welcome and genuine friendship. He concluded with hope that this visit would mark a new chapter in the brotherly cooperation between Lebanon and Jordan.
