New Chapter... Frank and Direct Dialogue Between Rajji and Araghchi
Regional developments, bilateral cooperation
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Rajji, on Tuesday received his Iranian counterpart Dr. Abbas Araghchi in Beirut, where the two held in-depth talks on regional and international developments, including the ongoing negotiations surrounding Iran’s nuclear file.
The meeting also addressed bilateral relations and the optimal path for enhancing cooperation based on mutual respect and respect for national sovereignty.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the discussion was “frank and direct.” Minister Rajji underscored Lebanon’s reliance on the Islamic Republic of Iran’s commitment to Lebanon’s security, stability, and civil peace, enabling it to overcome its pressing challenges. He stressed Lebanon’s diplomatic efforts to liberate Israeli-occupied territories, halt ongoing Israeli violations, and reassert full state authority nationwide, including the exclusive control of arms by the state.
Rajji further emphasized the importance of ensuring that any external support to Lebanon be channeled exclusively through the official government and public institutions, as a means to enable recovery and reconstruction.
In turn, Minister Araghchi stated that his visit aims to open a new chapter in Iran–Lebanon relations, aligned with the evolving political dynamics both within Lebanon and across the region.
