Ministerial meetings and distribution of tasks are not enough
As long as the presidential vacuum could be prolonged, Lebanon’s caretaker government should accomplish more than one task, especially what is related to the powers of the president of the Republic.
What can the caretaker government do in light of the the threat of an attack by the Israeli enemy on Lebanon?
Ministerial sources confirm, via the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that "keeping government meetings open to cope with any emergency, is a basic thing to take", and believe that "the government will make intensive contacts with the concerned countries, and if necessary, the head of the caretaker government performs his duties, especially if Lebanon is exposed to risks, and here this government cannot be criticized noting that it issued a memorandum approving emergency measures since the beginning of the southern War”.
The same sources explain that the issue here is National par excellence, and follow-up is necessary in the event of any negative development, and the ministerial meetings and the distribution of tasks are not enough, but there is a role played by the government whether in directing ministries or a specific mandate or even issuing decisions that take the character of consensus within a government representative of all political components.
For its part, opposition circles consider that the government has duties, but it should study taking a consensus position, and taking into account Lebanon's commitment to international resolutions.
The government is facing multiple challenges, the most prominent today is the threat of war, and any session of it must be at the required level.
