Who bears the costs, burdens and consequences?
The latest military developments, after 10 months of continuous war in both Gaza and southern Lebanon, prompted a new wave of displacement from southern Lebanon, in search of a safe place, but it is clear that the remaining Southerners are afraid of an Israeli strike, after a rocket landed in the Druze "Majdal Shams" in the occupied Golan Heights last Saturday, especially after Defense Minister Yoav Gallant pledged a heavy response, specifying the directions of the operation against Hezbollah.
On the other hand, activists living in the border areas confirmed to "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that despite the difficult reality faced by the residents of those areas, there are those who remained steadfast in their town and refuse to be displaced to safe areas, for several reasons, most notably their inability to afford the cost of displacement, and activists describe what has happened in recent days, an alarming shift, and fear of targeting civilians and residents away from the blue line, specifically in Tyre, Nabatieh and other areas, and the natural question here is, Can the "son of the South" bear the consequences of further destruction and displacement?"
In addition, military sources fear via "Akhbar al-Yawm" that the war will turn into large-scale Israeli reprisals, and massive destruction, knowing that Israeli officials are likely that the response will lead to several days of intense fighting with Hezbollah, may affect Beirut and other cities, which depends mainly on the use of the enormous power of the Air Force, while Hezbollah, according to the same sources, will hit the major Israeli cities, as well as airports, ports and infrastructure, if Tel Aviv bypasses the currently controlled bases.
