The name of General Joseph Aoun is always at the forefront of the debate, based on the most important question: has the extension of his mandate increased his presidential chances?

A knowledgeable ministerial source points out that there is no link between the extension or postponement of demobilization and the presidential elections, rather, this insistence on the adoption of the law comes in order to preserve the military institution at a time when most institutions are collapsing, and therefore it was due to an exceptional circumstance in which the country is passing at more than one level, which led to considering that keeping General Aoun in office in this circumstance is very necessary.

The same ministerial source said that the war in Gaza will stop, and therefore humanitarian corridors will be opened, prisoners and hostages will be exchanged, and a ceasefire will be established, and then the file of its borders will be put forward in Lebanon, starting with compliance with Resolution 1701 and the definition of new rules of engagement up to the land demarcation.
