LF: Summoning of journalists a serious violation of fundamental rights

Statement

The Media Department of the Lebanese Forces expressed in a statement its "deep consternation" over the summons of the editor-in-chief of the online newspaper Al-Hurra, Bechara Charbel, and the managing editor, Carine Abdel Nour.

The statement emphasized that this summons is "rejected both in form and substance" and constitutes a violation of the Constitution, the Press Law, and freedom of expression in Lebanon.

The party insisted that this measure belongs to a "bygone era" and damages the image of the current period. It called for the immediate withdrawal of the summons and for the case to be referred to the Press Court.

The Lebanese Forces declared their "full solidarity" with the two journalists.
