Geagea: Hezbollah Must Disarm by End of 2025

It is time to restore the state’s exclusive authority over national security

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stated that the handover of illegal weapons—particularly those held by Hezbollah—must be completed by the end of 2025. “It is time to restore the state’s exclusive authority over national security,” he told Nidaa Al-Watan, calling for the process to be accelerated.

On the regional front, Geagea said the aftermath of the Israel-Iran war remains uncertain, especially with regard to Iran’s nuclear program.

He also criticized the ongoing influence of the Iranian regime in Lebanon, which he blamed for decades of institutional paralysis.

Regarding Syrian refugees, Geagea condemned the government's inaction and accused it of yielding too easily to international pressure.

Domestically, he rejected any attempts to amend the electoral law, particularly in relation to expatriate voting. “We refuse to allow any wall to be built between Lebanon and its diaspora,” he said.

Geagea expressed confidence in the new presidential term, asserting that “the time has come to put the country back on the right track.”
