US Ambassador Johnson hosts second annual alumni reception

Three Lebanese ministers are alumni of U.S. exchange programs

US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa A. Johnson, hosted the second annual reception for U.S. government-sponsored program alumni on May 22.  The event gathered 100 alumni from various programs and fostered networking and connections after the completion of their programs. 

In her remarks, Ambassador Johnson spoke about how she is inspired by alumni-driven initiatives and collaborations, as well as the alumni collective contributions to improvement of  their communities. The Ambassador recognized three ministers of the current Lebanese government who are U.S. exchange programs alumni: Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani, Information Minister Paul Morcos, and Minister of Sports and Youth Nora Bayrakdarian.

 Ambassador Johnson underscored the importance of the alumni community in building and strengthening the bridges of friendship and mutual understanding between the United States and Lebanon. 

In Lebanon, the U.S. program alumni network includes 16,000 alumni from various U.S. government-funded exchange, educational, and cultural programs.
