Ongoing International Messages of Support…Defining Moment for Lebanon’s Reform, Stability, and Sovereignty

The Presidency Advances with Steady and Confident Steps

International support for President Joseph Aoun's term continues to gain momentum, with ongoing outreach from foreign governments in the form of communications, visits, and diplomatic envoys.

These developments reach the Presidential Palace, where President Aoun remains fully engaged, holding intensive meetings with political leaders, economists, legal experts, and other stakeholders.

On the governmental front, the cabinet is functioning actively, addressing urgent national issues through a well-defined agenda agreed upon by President Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.

One of the top priorities remains the stabilization of the ceasefire. Simultaneously, the state is pursuing the larger objective of reasserting full sovereignty across Lebanese territory. This includes securing a monopoly over arms and launching a phased disarmament process for all non-state actors, an effort that is being approached systematically through a national strategy under the President’s oversight.

Lebanon is facing mounting pressure to act swiftly in order to preserve vital international support, partnerships, and cooperation. According to sources speaking to “Akhbar al-Yawm” agency, the international community continues to prioritize the Lebanese situation and is closely following the pace and seriousness of efforts to implement both presidential and governmental policies. This makes it essential to establish a clear timeline and launch decisive, coordinated action on the ground, particularly in laying the foundations for arms control and strengthening the army’s role in maintaining the ceasefire.

Although progress may take time, the sources underline that delays cannot be indefinite. The window of opportunity is limited. The spotlight is now firmly on the internal front and on the President’s ability to deliver results without igniting political tensions. In this context, dialogue remains the central and indispensable tool for moving forward.

Furthermore, the same sources said that disarmament is intricately linked to other national priorities, including reconstruction and comprehensive reforms. The latter, in particular, is viewed as a gateway to unlocking international aid. Discussions are underway around a set of reform proposals, with Central Bank Governor Karim Souaid expected to play a prominent role in the financial restructuring phase.

What matters to the international community is the start of concrete implementation. Only then will the executive authority be assessed, particularly in terms of how quickly it acts on the ministerial statement. The coming months will be decisive, especially after the completion of municipal and local elections. Once those are finalized, the countdown begins.

In this light, initial coordination steps are already being discussed. The recurring meetings between President Aoun and Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri are seen as a signal of progress, along with ongoing communication between President Aoun and Prime Minister Salam.

President Aoun’s term continues to advance confidently toward state-building. Cooperation with it is inevitable—on the basis that the President is the leader of all Lebanon.

President Aoun’s term continues to advance with measured confidence, signaling a steady march toward stronger state institutions, with the President positioning himself as a unifying figure for all Lebanese.
