This evening... 60 minutes will unite the world!
To promote climate action
Several cities worldwide will switch off their lights for one hour today at 8:30 PM local time, as part of a global initiative to promote climate action.
During Earth Hour, iconic landmarks such as Cologne Cathedral, Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, the Colosseum in Rome, and New York's Empire State Building will go dark for 60 minutes.
The annual campaign, led by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), also encourages businesses and households to participate.
According to WWF, nearly 500 cities and municipalities across Germany are expected to take part in the initiative.
