Everyone pursues their own narrow interests..What future for Lebanon?

The new president should be strong and able to make a difference

There are Lebanese parties that are still "proud" of the Syrian regime's fall, and other parties that are looking for their future, and others that reject everything that has happened over the past weeks, although they are dealing with the variables available on the ground, while Lebanon seems to lack any "authority project" capable of Keeping Up with any internal or external variable.

The whole world is changing, and unfortunately there is no Lebanese party, whether within the government or within the opposition, seems able to keep up with major transformations at the level of a country and a people, but only at the level of its own and categorical interests. This is very worrying because it cannot be corrected neither by electing a president of the Republic, nor by forming a new government, nor by any other political step.

Even those who communicate with external parties do so for personal and categorical reasons first, and not for the benefit of Lebanon.

So what about the future of a country where there is no one authorized to do anything at the country level?

A political source called for "speeding up the election of a president of the Republic on January 9. This is the first step that must be done, facilitated and completed in Lebanon in the near future".

The source said in an interview with the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that "the new president should be wise in dealing with everyone, and in understanding with the new prime minister as well. In addition, he must have experience in security and economic files, not just political ones. The new president is required to pull the country out of the atmosphere that made it stumble not only in 2019, but since 1990 until now, which prevented the implementation of the Constitution".

The source concluded: "After the election of the president, a government should be formed as soon as possible, with integration in the work between the first and third authorities. Here, it is necessary to point out the interest of all Lebanese, and all political parties, that the new president of the Republic should be strong, that his word should be heard, and is able to make a difference".
