Will al-Golani come to Lebanon in order to free Islamist detainees from Roumieh prison?
Religious northern source to "Akhbar al-Yawm": They were the victim of a political project
The regime of dictator Bashar al-Assad fell into the dustbin of history, at the hands of the "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham", which, with the support of its allies from the armed opposition, managed to liberate Syria from Assad's police grip, and the organization had started its armed activity under the name of "al-Qaeda" and then the "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" and then changed its name to "Jabhat al-Nusra", and according to several Western reports, its idea comes from "Salafi jihadism" mainly and puts the priority of forming a Sunni entity and toppling the regime in Syria.
In the opinion of a political source, Abu Mohammed al-Golani or Ahmed Al-Shara, the leader of the HTS with the rank of "hero of the liberation of al-Sham" is an extremist radical who carries this thought, and that all the softness he shows in his positions today may be temporary, until the situation stabilizes and the conditions become clear, so that his military achievement will open the way for him to the most prominent role politically and militarily in the "new Syria" stage, and perhaps these reasons prompted the man to turn his radical Islamic speech into a kind of moderation in a clear effort to change his image for purposes whose features have not yet become clear.
Amid this bleak landscape, some voices in Lebanon came out to say that "al-Golani is coming to Roumieh Prison in the coming stages, referring to the liberation of the Islamic detainees, based on the emotional and political interconnection between the "Tahrir al-Sham" and these detainees.
The "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency has learned that there are those who see a favorable circumstance to revive this file, after rebels released hundreds of detainees from a Syrian prisons, in light of information about the possibility of carrying out a sit-in by the families of the detainees in Tripoli and the north to pressure the Lebanese authorities, with the aim of releasing the Islamists languishing in Roumieh, which is estimated at about 230 people, distributed between 60 convicts and 170 detainees.
Commenting on these doubts, a northern religious source following the case denied this matter, revealing via the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that neither the Tripoli residents nor the families of the detainees want any external interference or putting pressure on the Lebanese judicial processes, or even asking the Syrian opposition to get them out of prisons, as there is a political and religious desire in Tripoli on the other hand not to be drawn into a confrontation with the Lebanese legitimate forces, knowing, according to the same source, that the Islamic detainees are the victim of a political project that exploited them.
