Iran seeks to evade sanctions to improve its economy
The US President's envoy Amos Hochstein carried with him indications of indirect negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, when he spoke after his arrival in Beirut about ending the conflict between them forever. In the same context, we cannot ignore what Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz hinted on Tuesday morning about the possibility of Lebanon becoming part of the circle of normalization with Israel if this is achieved with Saudi Arabia.
So, the remarkable irony is that this talk comes at a time when pro-Iranian groups, most notably Hezbollah, are engaged in a fierce confrontation with Israel, while the hidden goal of what the US administration is seeking, according to observers, is to disengage Lebanon from the Iranian axis, by being able to reach a cessation of military actions based on a tripartite agreement between America, Israel and Lebanon.
Of course, the post-war stage is under consideration, where the world will eventually witness an agreement between Iran on the one hand and the Western countries on the other, which may include Israel, as this is the only way to ensure that the Islamic Republic escapes sanctions, which improves its strategic position in the Middle East, especially with regard to its nuclear program, and changes the reality of the Iranian people's living and life.
Israel believes that it is possible to rely on the position of some Lebanese parties that support the neutrality of Lebanon from the conflict in the region.
Israeli officials are also thinking that after curbing the main engine of Tehran's armed groups in the region, it may be easier to find a way to make a breakthrough in normalization with Lebanon, as the Hebrew state aspires.
