Prime Minister Najib Mikati received today a call from British Foreign Minister David Lammy, during which relations between Lebanon and Britain and the situation in the region were discussed. 

The British Minister stressed exerted efforts "to address the tense situations in southern Lebanon and Gaza, and to work together for peace and security in the Middle East," noting that "he will visit Lebanon soon."

He added: "I have raised my concerns about the escalation of tensions on Lebanon's borders and the increasing possibility of miscalculation," considering that "expanding the conflict is not in anyone's interest."

"The United Kingdom wants to see this matter resolved peacefully through a negotiated settlement," Lammy asserted.
