Many questions were raised after raising the exchange rate of the customs dollar, and announcing its official increase in the Banque du Liban early next year.

Questions have affected the fate of housing loans, which so far appear not to be subject to modification.

This was confirmed by the Director General of the Housing Bank, Antoine Habib, who indicated that “the loans will remain as they are because the source of the funds is the Bank of Lebanon and in Lebanese pounds, and therefore the Housing Bank also delivers them in Lebanese pounds.”
