The families of those arrested in the Beirut port crime announced, in a statement, during a solidarity demonstration in front of the Beirut Courthouse: "Our position has two components :

The first part is that the government has put the names of administrative detainees before interrogating them and before interrogating them, in order to silence public opinion by concealing security, judicial and political responsibility, and deceiving the truth. This arrest was arbitrary".

The statement continued: "Two years in prison and six months in detention, and they were not investigated at all and were not allowed to defend themselves. Our people are arrested "instead of being lost". Why are our people in prison and accused, while others are free and having fun? »

The people demanded a fair trial immediately and allow our people to prove their innocence if there is any conviction against them.

As for the second part, since there is a continuous suspension of the course of justice and the investigation, and conflicts continue between the judiciary and politicians, with the refusal of the Minister of Finance to sign the new appointments of the General Authority, we demand the immediate release of our people and prevent them from traveling until the state institutions regain their effectiveness and the investigation resumes.

And it concluded: "Enough injustice"!
