Caretaker PM Najib Mikati Meets President Joseph Aoun, Highlights Future Challenges and Goals
We are entering a new phase
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with President Joseph Aoun at the presidential palace, expressing his pleasure with the meeting and wishing the president a successful and prosperous term.
During the meeting, Mikati stated: "We discussed the caretaker government's actions during this period, the challenges ahead, the inaugural speech, and the need to implement its outlined priorities. Additionally, we addressed the situation in the south, stressing the importance of a complete Israeli withdrawal, an end to all violations, and the continuation of our caretaker duties until a new government is formed."
When asked about the appointment of the next prime minister, Mikati remarked: "I respect all political perspectives. There is no concept of a 'package deal'; the process involves constitutional procedures for parliamentary consultations. The upcoming government must be capable of delivering results and leading a comprehensive plan to rescue the country."
He concluded by emphasizing, "We are entering a new phase and will work diligently to ensure the state's presence throughout all Lebanese territories."
