Yazbeck to Bassil: Stop giving advice that could bring external dangers to Lebanon

Silence and shame are the best remedies for such individuals

MP Ghayath Yazbeck issued a statement in response to Bassil, which said the following:

"We understand the confusion striking the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) and its leader, Gebran Bassil, due to the collapse of their failed bets on Hezbollah’s militia and the Assad regime. They tried to absurdly combine legitimacy with illegitimacy, supporting Hezbollah in its foreign wars while rejecting the Gaza war and accusing anyone calling for the disarmament of Hezbollah of treason. They claim to be with Assad, the protector of minorities, while being against Assad, the killer who turned his country into a large prison that holds Syria and, by extension, Lebanon.

In this situation, we advise them to remain silent, be ashamed, and take some sedatives. Silence and shame are the best remedies for such individuals, especially after the departure of their ally, Assad. Unless they are betting on the survival of the Iranian model or Assad’s return from exile. It’s a shame—if you can’t show mercy to your country, at least show mercy to yourself and your followers, and stop giving advice that could bring external dangers to Lebanon. Those who are shielded from failure do not need your advice, and those who have fallen before have learned from the flaws of your performance and have been deterred."
