Parliament to convene Thursday… After ceasefire, many sessions will be held!

The proposal submitted by the "Moderation"will be applied

Lebanon's Parliament will convene Thursday to approve a law extending the terms of the army commander and his counterparts in other security agencies.

The council is studying the repeated accelerated proposals submitted during the past period to the parliamentary council, including:

The Strong Republic's bill which provides for an extension for the army commander, another for deputy jihad Samad which proposed the extension for all security leaders for two years, a proposal prior to the "Democratic Gathering", a proposal for the "National consensus" bloc, and the latest proposal for the "National moderation" bloc on the extension of a year for both the rank of Major General and Brigadier.

Parliamentary sources told "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that the "Moderation" proposal is likely to be followed, as it provides only for the extension of the leaders of the security services, headed by army commander General Joseph Aoun, Director General of the Internal Security Forces Major General Imad Osman and the General director Brigadier Elias Al-Baysari .

The sources revealed that several meetings will be held before the session to develop a certain formula for the proposal of the accelerated law and its approval in the session, noting that the quorum will be secure and it requires -as it has become known- the presence of 65 deputies.

This session comes in conjunction with the talk of a ceasefire and the deployment of the army in the south, noting -as the sources say- that the meetings of the parliamentary committees and the holding of legislative sessions will start after the ceasefire to approve a number of urgent law proposals.
