Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, reassured citizens that there are sufficient quantities of food supplies in the country.
He said: "After meeting with all food unions, including supermarkets, meat, poultry, and all other unions, we received assurances about the availability of these supplies, in addition to large orders on their way to Lebanon."
Salam stressed in an interview with "Al Jadeed TV" this morning that "there is no need for panic," and warned against any "storage" because this "negatively affects prices and the availability of quantities that must be distributed fairly among people."
"The Ministry of Economy is following up on the issue of prices in all details, and we have instructed all concerned parties, unions, and companies to adhere to profit margins and respect people's delicate social circumstances," Salam emphasized, adding that his Ministry will be on the lookout and will issue legal prosecution reports against anyone who attempts to exploit people in this difficult situation.
