The outgoing Minister of the Interior Bassam Mawlawi chaired Thursday afternoon a meeting of the various mohafez and heads of security services to discuss the issue of Syrian migrants.

At the end of the meeting, Mawlawi stressed that the Lebanese are not Rascals but that it was necessary to apply the laws in force and the international treaties signed by Lebanon on migration, because Lebanon is not able to support "economic migration".

Mr. Mawlawi reiterated that any form of self-security is prohibited and rejected, stressing that the mohafez and the municipalities will coordinate their actions to prevent any security chaos.

In this context, he indicated that the crimes committed by Syrians are being seriously monitored. "We do not accept attacks on Syrians and we also do not accept that they commit crimes in Lebanon," he said.
