A source close to Ain al-Tineh: the parliamentary session has nothing to do with the opposition's position

A source close to Ain al-Tineh revealed, via the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency, that the invitation set in the morning by Speaker of the House of Representatives Nabih Berri to hold the presidential election session next Wednesday at Eleven, is not related to the opposition's position and its announcement of support for the candidacy of former Minister Jihad Azour, but is a commitment to what Berri announced several weeks ago.

The source explained that when Berri talked about the June 15 date, he was counting on the settlement and understanding between all Lebanese in order to save the country, stressing that Lebanon cannot be ruled by challenge, and therefore without a settlement it is impossible to fill the vacuum and accomplish all subsequent entitlements.

The source said that Berri has always sought to cooperate with various forces at home and abroad, therefore, to prevent the loss of any team, then only the country will be the winner through a general national consensus.

In a related context, the source explained that the deputies of the "Liberation and Development" and the "Loyalty to the resistance" blocs and their allies are studying the options available for the current 14th session, without ruling out resorting to the white paper again, considering that the nomination of former MP Sleiman Frangieh was part of a settlement based on the French initiative.
