Flying taxi flights at €100+ during the Paris Olympics

Ridley Scott dreamed of it in Blade Runner, the ADP group made it a reality for the 2024 Olympics: flying taxis will swarm the Parisian sky next summer.

Fly over a city in a flying taxi. A scene that seems straight out of a science fiction film but which could well and truly become reality as early as 2024, next year. On the occasion of the Paris Olympic Games, the ADP group, in charge of the major Parisian airports, will inaugurate the first urban flights of flying taxis, this is what Augustin de Romanet, CEO of the ADP group, declared on franceinfo .

The first VTOL flights, for Vertical Take-Off and Landing, more commonly known as flying taxis, will be marketed during the summer games. A true revolution for urban mobility, and this, in more ways than one.

“A few thousand tickets […] will be sold at a very reasonable price, around 110 euros” , estimates Mr. de Romanet, or a little more than double a long journey in a traditional taxi.

If the flying taxi market should really explode only from the years 2028-2030, the Paris Olympics will be a real life-size test. Several experimental lines have been set up, in particular between Issy-les-Moulineaux and Saint-Cyr-l'École (near Versailles) or between Le Bourget and the banks of the Seine.

These small electric helicopters will also be useful in other situations, such as the evacuation of wounded. This would then make it possible to avoid traffic jams and to reach the care center more quickly.
