The Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Beirut and its dependencies, Bishop Elias Aoude, stressed that "the election of a president will not work wonders if it is not accompanied by the necessary steps, but it is the first step of the long road of rescue".
He said in the sermon of the Sunday Mass: "Everyone should give priority to the objective of saving Lebanon over the objective of gaining power, and give priority to the language of reason, dialogue and wisdom to intransigence and confrontation".
