The armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad announced the death of one of its executives this Sunday near his home in the suburbs of Damascus, during an operation by Israeli "agents", according to a statement distributed in the media. "The Islamic Jihad movement in Palestine and its armed wing, the al-Quds Brigades (..) mourn Ali Ramzi al-Aswad, (nicknamed) Abu Abd al-Rahman, 31 years old", a Palestinian refugee from a camp in Syria who joined the ranks of the al-Quds Brigades very early, the statement said. "The assassination was carried out by direct fire near his house" in the neighborhood of Qodsiya, in the suburbs of Damascus, told AFP an official of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, who requested anonymity. He will be buried on Monday in the cemetery of the Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp, near Damascus.
