Speaker of the House of Representatives Nabih Berri is a key player in the presidential file, and through his public nomination of former deputy Sleiman Frangieh, he transferred the presidential entitlement from one place to another, but it seems that the Iranian-Saudi agreement has changed the data, and made Frangieh's nomination a negotiating paper and not an imposition.

Member of the Development and Liberation bloc, MP Qassem Hashem, in an interview with the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency, pointed out that in light of the bitter reality that the country is going through, especially in terms of financial and social collapse and the suffering of the Lebanese, it has become necessary for officials to search for solutions to the crises, and the need for their approaches to be based on the overall interest and the interest of the Lebanese.

Hashem said that while waiting for the regional data to take shape, it is required that some in Lebanon open doors to the national debate in search of a common space and launch a substantive dialogue that President Berri has always called for throughout this last stage in order to get Lebanon out of its crisis, the key of which is the election of a president of the Republic and ending the crisis of this entitlement.

In response to a question about the adoption of the candidacy of former MP Sleiman Frangieh, Hashem explained that this support by Berri aims to open prospects and horizons, and to call on everyone to bear their responsibilities in nominating a presidential candidate, and to be a starting point for productive sessions with which we reach the election of a president of the Republic in order to restore the regularity of political life, considering that Berri's step is positive at the regional level, represented by the Iranian – Saudi agreement.

He added: If there is a national Will on all sides, we should not wait for any external diktats.

Hashim called for going towards a discussion on certain options and clear mechanisms, provided that the Constitution remains the separator between everyone, provided that there is a national understanding, because the composition of this homeland and its formula necessitate consensus and understanding, especially in difficult moments to avoid further division and fragmentation, pointing out that we have not faced such a current crisis even in times of war.

He concluded: the treatment of our crises begins with the election of a president of the Republic and the restoration of the regularity of the work of institutions, and this is the responsibility of everyone.
