Biden decides on his candidacy for a second term after the "New Year"

| Tuesday 06 December 2022

US President Joe Biden will make a decision on whether to run for a second term in 2024 "shortly" after the start of the new year, his chief of staff Ron Klein said Monday.

In remarks made during the CEB summit, Klein told The Wall Street Journal that Biden is consulting with his family members. At eighty, Biden is the oldest president in the history of the United States and if he takes power for a second term, he will be eighty-six years old by the end of his term.

Klein was quoted by AFP as saying he believed he "intends to run".

"I hear from many Democrats across the country that they want him to run.. But the president will make this decision, according to my expectations, shortly after the end of the holiday season, but I expect that his decision will be that he will do it (that is, he will run),"he said.

Currently, Donald Trump is the only candidate who has announced his intention to run in the 2024 elections.

Biden strongly hinted that he would run again, while leaving open the possibility that he would not run, saying that he "greatly respects fate".
