Bkerki: a national edifice open to everyone and it is not a political team

Calling for an international conference is not a guardianship...

Bkerki continues her movement on the line of ending the presidential vacancy, as long as the deputies are unable to elect a new president of the Republic.. Disruption is a feature of the sessions, at a time when no team is able to deliver its candidate, at a time when Lebanon needs a consensual president - not a challenging one - to put the country back on the right political and economic track and correct Lebanon's relations abroad.

There is no doubt that all this confusion we are experiencing is caused by the fact that Lebanon is an open arena to all external interventions without the ability to deal with internal ones. Based on this, a source familiar with the ecclesiastical affairs, points out via the "Akhbar al-Yawm" agency that "the movement of the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi is not a new thing, because Bkerki plays a role in the state entity and national issues".

What worries the patriarch is "the constant fabrication of events for a vacuum, as if there is a Will among some to introduce unconstitutional methods such as legislation in a vacuum and the conduct of state affairs without a head, and this constitutes a coup against the Constitution".

According to the same informed source, this is what allowed the patriarch to request the convening of the special international conference for Lebanon, stressing that the invitation to the conference is not an international guardianship over Lebanon.

The patriarch did not call for a change in the political system, but all that this system needs is its activation and application, and perhaps correction or revision of some concepts to improve the functioning and regularity of the state.

What draws attention is the reactivation of the dialogue committee or the committee concerned with communication between Bkerki and "Hezbollah", specifically against the background of differences in the presidential file and in the call for the convening of the special international conference for Lebanon.

The basic principle of Bkerki, according to the source, is that it is a national edifice open to everyone and it is not a political team, and Hezbollah is part of the Lebanese people and one of its components, and therefore any party is welcome in Bkerki, and therefore "it is in the interest of the party to open up to Bkerki, which is the founding edifice of the Lebanese entity".

The source familiar with the Ecclesiastical Affairs concludes that "the atmosphere of the dialogue is positive, but this does not mean that there is consensus on all topics, otherwise there would not have been a dialogue in the first place. Today there is an attempt to rectify the relationship in order to put the right steps on the national track".
