United States: Border demarcation is number one on the list of priorities

Exclusive - "Akhbar al-Yawm"

Representatives from the United States, France and Saudi Arabia met to discuss the Lebanese file, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The Lebanese file moved at the international level, but there is an "exaggeration in the reliance on the roles of these countries", according to a diplomatic source, who considered that none of these three countries deployed an effort in following the file.

The source, through "Akhbar Al-Yawm" agency, placed the meeting in the intelligence box, where no names were presented, but rather the participants discussed the names circulated without adopting anyone of them.

He said: With regard to Saudi Arabia, it is known that it favors the army commander, General Joseph Aoun, without his support or adoption, considering that the importance of the meeting lies in putting the Lebanese file on the track by the Saudi side - which was not invited to the meeting, but agreed to participate in it - while few months ago, the Kingdom refused to discuss any matter related to Lebanon. In this regard, the source revealed that the Saudi ambassador to Beirut, Walid al-Bukhari, plays a role in the presidential file, but there is an intelligence official who is in charge of keeping up with the file with Paris and Washington.

On the other side, the French did not put forward any name during the New York meeting, he concluded: Washington has not yet entered the Lebanese presidential elections line. For it, the demarcation of the border is number one on the list of priorities, and after that comes the search for other files.
