As if the Attorney General in Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, insists on inflaming crises in the country, and here she is trying to return to playing "starring roles" in role plays, so she issued an arrest warrant banning travel by sea, land, and air against the governor of Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh based on the complaint submitted by the legal department of the group "The People Want Reform the System" represented by lawyers Haitham Azzoh and Pierre Gemayel.
Legal sources mock Judge Aoun's memorandum, which has no legal value, a memorandum that this memorandum is not the first of its kind issued by Aoun, and several similar memos have already been dropped, which Judge Aoun fabricate every time she seeks to return to the spotlight in the media, without any legal justification.
The sources ask: How can a prosecutor issue a travel ban memorandum for a person at the site of the governor of Banque du Liban and with his key and pivotal role in all financial negotiations conducted by Lebanon? How can Judge Aoun herself tweet repeatedly that Riad Salama is pursued and wanted in European countries and then returns to try to prevent him from traveling instead of facilitating his travel if he is wanted?
The sources point out that the issuance of the travel ban memorandum at a time when Prime Minister Najib Mikati was meeting with Finance Minister Yousef Khalil and the Governor of the Central Bank reveals the reality of political intentions that are far from legal backgrounds, which makes this memorandum come within the framework of political pressure from President General Michel Aoun and his team on the Prime Minister to push for a session of the Council of Ministers despite the decision of the Shiite component in the province.
Legal sources regret that the Attorney General in Mount Lebanon is a tool for political use whenever needed, especially to reach the level of issuing an arrest warrant based on a suspicious case from a suspicious group that is harnessed every time for suspicious uses in turn!
The legal sources conclude, stressing that the fate of this memorandum will be like its predecessors in terms of invalidating it once the central governor assigns his lawyer to submit his objection.
