The country is collapsing and a security threat in sight ... Questions addressed to Hezbollah!

Rania Shakhtoura - Agency “Akhbar Al-Yawm”

The victory of the Shiite Aref Yassin in the elections of the Order of Engineers, from the city of Houla in the south, means that the voice opposing the duo, in particular Hezbollah, has been heard, and the party cannot bypass it, and remain passive in the face of the serious crisis afflicting the country, where Hezbollah is one of its causes given the Western sanctions imposed on Lebanon against it.

This crisis has endangered all Lebanese, and even the Shiites. The security situation began to crumble, as the salaries of the army, internal security forces and other security services became a trifle of dollars, and this began to translate into a drop in their presence on Lebanese lands ... Add this to the political and economic collapse ...

The question addressed to Hezbollah, will it help find solutions, or will the country head into civil war?

The collapse of Lebanon coincides with Israel continuing a war against a country which no longer presents any danger to it, and in the event of war Lebanon is without hospitals or medicines, and the people without exception suffer from poverty. Lebanon has found no one to help it in times of peace, so will it find help in times of war?!

External project

An informed opposition political reference excludes Hezbollah from participating in any solution, saying, via "Akhbar Al-Yawm" news agency: All problems in Lebanon are solvable, and settlements can be found, with the exception of Hezbollah, explaining that other groups  of different sects have no plans outside the framework of the state and the system.

He adds: Therefore, the main problem that cannot be solved is the Hezbollah project, not the party - as individuals and elements, where many points of convergence can be found, they are the Lebanese. But Hezbollah's project is Iranian, stretching from Tehran to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza.

Hindering the formation

He stresses that no independent country with its own entity, borders, system, traditions, laws and charter can be compatible with this project. Therefore, obstructing the formation of the government is one of the products of this project, hence the speech on two Christian ministers or the number of ministers in the government, or a dispute between Prime Minister Saad Hariri and Representative Gibran Bassil are only a facade for the project of Hezbollah which refuses to rebuild the State on the basis of the Agreement of Taif, the Lebanese system and charter… All the rest is only details.

The reality of the conflict

In response to a question, the source considers that there are two parties that want to end the current Lebanese situation:

  • The Gulf States and the United States, and they believe that by bringing down everything related to Hezbollah in Lebanon, the resurrection of West Arab Lebanon can be achieved.

  • Hezbollah and its successor, Iran, want to bring down everything related to the Arabs and the West in Lebanon, in order to build a Shiite-Iranian Lebanon.

He adds: This is where the real conflict lies, and everything that is going on right now, including the overthrow of the government, the failure to put in place a new electoral law and the attacks against the Bank of Lebanon, the judiciary and the security services, fall into this box, since the first victim was the presidency, which was controlled by the party from 2016, and Hariri's recusal days ago is attached to this context.

“Lebanesation” of the party

The reference considers that Hezbollah's project does not end with victory in a battle, but rather wants to win the war, revealing that Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, along with Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, have sought to “libanize” the party, but in vain.

And he concludes: The country has received many blows between a resigning government and a president in charge unable to form a government, because in the last nine months all the institutions have fallen, and the train continues to roll under the aegis of Hezbollah.
